Ewww! How I Used To Scrap!

Wow! Like the saying goes (paraphrased) "I've come a long way, baby!". The two layouts below are two of the first layouts I ever created. I had taken a Creative Memories class through the adult ed at our local high school 11 (ELEVEN) years ago and this is what we did. I bought the Oval cutting system, (which I still have and still LOVE) and cut out all my pregnancy pictures from 1984-85, forming them into a circle. At the time, I thought this page was fantastic! Now....all I can say is.....Ewwwww! But, I also love the fact that I can compare what I used to do and how far I have come. Back then, there were only so many patterned papers to choose from and they were ugly! Trust me. And, the most popular size was the standard 8.5 x 11. But, CM was doing 11x11. They were ahead of the times! I, personally, LOVE CM products, don't get me wrong. I just think that the style of scrapping back then was so.....plain. To this day I cannot do a layout on a totally white background. I just cringe!

The next layout was of my first baby shower that close friends had given me back in April of 1985. This layout shows a bit more color as I had added Mrs. Grossman stickers. I laugh when I look at this layout. I'm thrilled that these pics are scrapped, but there's nothing else! Just a few stickers, shaped photos stuck on a white background. How.....bland!! I know I have other layouts that are just as non-descript and I'll have to post a few of them. I don't want anyone who may still scrap this way to think that I am being critical of this type of scrapping. I'm not. I just wanted to point out that I have developed new techniques and methods that have changed my style. This style is not 'bad'---it's just not me anymore.

I hope you ladies enjoyed a quick peek into the past. I know I did!

Ah! The 'ol triangles in the corner routine! That is a trip down memory lane for sure! I was a CM consultant for 5+ yrs years ago, and did my fair share of triangles! Thanks for the flashback!

Hi Lori...wow we all look back our first pages and think eeewww! I just wanted to let you know I got your blog candy package today! Thank you so much! And I wanted to let you know that I have yours all set and I am mailing it out as soon as I can get to the post office. I'm hoping thursday I can get there because my mom has the day off and can watch the kids while I go. Without my van I can't go anywhere with all 4 kids so it's been tough getting out of the house while the post office is still open. I love everythign you sent and I hope you love what I send you! Take care!
