This is the way to spend Mother's Day!

I woke up at 6:00 to get ready for the 5K (3.2 miles) run in Portland for the Maine Cancer Society. Thank God I dressed the way I did (see photo below). It was c-0-l-d!! The temp read 42 degrees but with the windchill, they estimated it to be about 35. It was so windy. At the last minute I decided to grab my gloves and headband as well as my daugther's. We sure needed them! My oldest daughter was planning on running and she only wore shorts---she had goosebumps on her goosebumps! My youngest daughter borrowed her fleece because all she wore was a thin long sleeve shirt under a thin t-shirt and a thin sweatshirt. I wore sweatpants as well as Jackie and thank goodness we did! I hate being cold and if I had dressed as though it were warm, I would've been miserable. The 'race' had approx. 3000 participants! It was great!

My time at the end was 54 minutes and 54 seconds. That's because I had to stop and wait for Jaclyn along the way. I was hoping to do it in 40 (walking the entire way). Valerie ran the entire length and did a time of 28 minutes. She was thrilled because she had beat her previous time of 32 minutes.

On the way home, Valerie took me out for lunch to Panera Bread in Biddeford. I had the Roasted Turkey on applewood bread---it was sooooo good! All in all, it was a wonderful Mother's Day morning.
Have a great day, Moms!

I think that is a most wonderful way to spend Mother's Day! I so miss doing walks for charity. I love walking. Did the Terry Fox Run once here with a couple of friends -- two of us left the third behind because she was a bit slower. We finished at around 40 minutes. How wonderful that your daughter ran it in 28 min. That's great! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. :) Tammy
