It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas!

Today, my family and I headed out to a local tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree.  We've done this every year for many years and it's become a tradition we look forward to every year.  Some years it has taken us a few hours to find a tree as we trudge through snow.  Other years, it's taken us perhaps an hour (which is average for us) and the weather has been in the 50's or 60's.  Today, it was 33 degrees out, cloudy, a bit windy but no snow.  We found our tree after about 20 minutes of walking through 3 fields.   We can't have a tree higher than 6 feet or more than 4 feet wide or it won't fit in the tiny space we've reserved for it in the living room.

Michael and Zachery carry the tree out of the field

After lugging up my decorations and doing some grocery shopping, the kids and I finally started decorating the tree.  My husband, though, has to put on the first ornament, which is a #8 fishing hook (he's an avid fisherman!).  Here he is putting his ornament on the tree:

Jackie has her favorite ornament to hang as well.  It's a bread dough ornament that I got for her when she was a baby.
Zachery has a penguin ornament that he loves:

And here I am putting up an ornament that I made when I was 11 years old----a long, long, long time ago!   It's made from a hollowed out egg with a knitted strap to a hat that belonged to my brother when he was a baby and cotton for his beard.  Every year when I unpack it, I'm always in awe that it has survived so many years.
And here is our tree, about 90% decorated.  I still have the bead garland to put on and a few other things.  Stay tuned for more pics in future postings.
Thanks for looking!

Oh, I also have to share with you some photos of the class Jackie and I took at Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, MA.  We did an Christmas Envelope mini album using 7 Gypsies ephermera and I totally forgot the paper line we used, but I loved the paper!  Anyway, I didn't finish the album, but I did get about 75% of it done.  When it's finally complete, I'll post a video on YouTube.

And when we left, I noticed this sleigh in front of the Christmas tree.  I had to beg my daughter to take a picture.

Well, that was my weekend!  Thanks for looking.

Hi Lori, your tree is beautiful. I did a little decorating over the weekend but have been sick with a cold that had me down and out. Feeling better, still congested. Looks like you had a nice Thanksgiving too. Our's has been quiet the past couple of years since everyone we used to gather with has moved away. I haven't done any paper crafting lately. Lots of crocheting. Gotta get busy on Christmas presents. The days are just flying by. Wishing you all the best. :) Tammy

Hey Lori! Yeah I've MIA like forever! lol Anyway, LOVE your tree! I prefer colored lights for my tree. Which we are going to get Friday night! It's gonna be like 2 degrees but I don't care! It's a tradition to go on Friday the second week of December, freezing or not! Christmas is going to be here before we know it! I just did a scrappy project believe it or not! My son needed to decorated a Christmas tree for school so I hauled out my stuff and helped him. Of coursemy hot glue gun broke immediately making it hard to get the project done, but the finished tree came out so cute! Nice to be by your blog again!

Hi Lori! I'm going to really try to stop by more often! Yes 2 of the kids in my header photo are my niece and nephew. They are like my own so I figured, why not use a picture with them in it! I shall be back! lol
