Here are some more pics of my 'work in progress". I'm making a mini album from ordinary products--cardboard, plastic bags and toilet paper rolls! Take a look:
above is what the plastic pages look like after they're melted. They're hard too. They are ordinary plastic bags that are ironed so they'll melt. I then applied 3 different colors of paint, one at a time and wiped away the excess so the color would get into the 'wrinkles'. I finished it with gold which gave it a nice sheen.
Above is the toilet paper roll that has been distressed with brown ink and then again with gold ink. Below is the cover made from corrugated card board. Again, I used 3 different paints (one at a time), dabbed it on, then repeated with a different color to get the effect I wanted. The last color I used was gold. Once the paint was dried, I applied Modge Podge to give it a nice shine.
This is the inside of the cover--painted and then modge podged. The back cover was done exactly the same way. Below is the album on it's side to show you how I integrated the tp rolls with the plastic pages.
And....below is the cover decorated--so far. I'm not done yet. I'll post the completed project hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks for looking!

Wow! That really is extraordinary. I love the idea of using things that most people would throw away. The cover looks fabulous! Can't wait to see the rest. Have a great day! :) Tammy

Hi Lori,
I am so impressed with this project. Talk about reuse and recycle-you have nailed that for sure! Reminds me very much of Tim Holtz's work. Great job!
